Lead Culturally Safe Care for Community

Metro South Hospital and Health Service (MSH) is inviting experienced Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander nurses to join their HOMES Team within the Southern Queensland Centre of Excellence (SQCoE) at Inala.

The Clinical Nurse (Identified) will play a central role in delivering person-centred, holistic care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients with complex health needs.

You’ll bring advanced clinical expertise and cultural understanding to a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving outcomes through empowerment, trust and self-determination.

About the Role

The HOMES Team supports clients through a strengths-based model of care focused on social, emotional, and cultural wellbeing.

As the Clinical Nurse, you will:

  • Provide expert clinical assessment, care planning and case coordination.

  • Support clients in their homes and communities, ensuring culturally responsive, safe care.

  • Lead, mentor and support nursing staff and students.

  • Engage with Elders, families, and community partners to co-design solutions.

  • Participate in quality improvement, education and research activities.

  • Advocate for patient empowerment and culturally informed health literacy.

About You

You’re a skilled, compassionate nurse who values culture as much as clinical practice.

You bring:

  • Advanced clinical judgement and leadership skills.

  • Experience delivering chronic disease management or primary health care in First Nations contexts.

  • A deep commitment to health equity, person-centred care and cultural safety.

  • The ability to build respectful relationships and work collaboratively within diverse teams.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Identified Position: Open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse.

  • Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent).

  • Class C driver’s licence (for home visits).

  • Blue Card (Working with Children Check).

  • Proof of required vaccinations (MMR, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B).

A postgraduate qualification or enrolment in a related program is highly desirable.
