Your Pathway into Mental Health and Community Wellbeing
Metro South Hospital and Health Service (MSH) is offering a rare opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander allied health graduates to begin their professional journey with purpose and cultural pride.
The First Nations Allied Health New Graduate (Identified) role is a two-year, full-time development position based with the Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in Cleveland.
This role is designed to nurture new practitioners — providing structured supervision, hands-on experience, and dedicated cultural support across MSH’s mental health programs. You’ll work alongside senior clinicians, Elders, and community partners to deliver holistic, strengths-based care that improves the social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of young people and families.
About the Role
As a new graduate clinician, you’ll work within an interprofessional team supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and youth aged 0–25.
Your work will include:
Conducting culturally informed assessments and interventions.
Supporting children, families, and carers to navigate mental health and community services.
Participating in case conferences and care planning.
Contributing to health education, discharge planning, and community follow-up.
Engaging in reflective practice, supervision, and ongoing learning.
Every step of the program is supported by experienced mental health professionals who are committed to your growth and success.
Who They’re Looking For
Metro South Health is seeking a motivated early-career allied health professional who brings cultural understanding, empathy, and a passion for making a difference.
This role is open to graduates in:

You’ll be ready to learn, collaborate, and advocate for your mob — using your clinical knowledge and cultural insight to create safer, more accessible mental health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.
Mandatory Requirements
This is an Identified position, open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).
Applicants must also hold:
Relevant degree qualification and professional registration (AHPRA/AASW).
A current Working with Children Blue Card.
Evidence of vaccinations (MMR, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B).
A Class C driver’s licence for community and outreach work.
