  • Our work is underpinned by the belief that mob have always had personality frameworks — we just didn’t call them “personality types.” Our Elders, Aunties, and Uncles have long known who the deep thinkers are, who the organisers are, who the carers and knowledge holders are. This quiz is simply a bridge between traditional identity roles and modern psychological insight.

At its core, Know Your Spirit is about:

    • Honouring Cultural Intelligence: Personality is shaped by culture, Country, family, and trauma. This quiz recognises all of that.

    • Walking in Two Worlds: Many of us balance life between cultural values and Western systems. This tool helps you name how you do that.

    • Empowering Through Self-Knowledge: When mob know who they are, they can stand stronger in work, education, community, and leadership.

    • Healing Through Understanding: By exploring how you think, act, and relate, you start to de-shame, decolonise, and affirm your full self.

We believe identity is powerful — and knowing your spirit is the first step toward walking fully in it.

  • We built Know Your Spirit by blending two knowledge systems:

    Western Framework:

    • Based on MBTI theory, which categorises personality along four spectrums:

      • Introvert (I) / Extrovert (E)

      • Intuitive (N) / Observant (S)

      • Thinking (T) / Feeling (F)

      • Judging (J) / Prospecting (P)

    • Each person ends up with a 4-letter result (e.g., INFP, ESTJ)

    Cultural Adaptation:

    • Each of the 16 MBTI profiles is re-named using Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander language and cultural insight

    • Profiles include cultural role, community contribution, natural strengths, mob vibe, and potential pathways

    • Questions are designed around First Nations lived experience, including kinship roles, community responsibilities, and spirit-based decision making

This is a tool designed to resonate with how our people actually live, lead, learn, and love — not how others expect us to.

  • Because you deserve to know your spirit.

Because your way of being matters.

Because our mob are diverse — and that’s something to be proud of.

    Whether you’re:

    • Finding your path after school

    • Exploring your leadership style

    • Trying to understand yourself in work or relationships

    • Or just curious to learn more about your spirit

This quiz gives you insight, language, and clarity to stand more confidently in who you are.

    It’s fun. It’s deep. And it’s deadly.

    You’ll walk away with:

    1. A full spirit profile tailored to your strengths

    2. Language that affirms and reflects your identity

    3. New ways to understand your gifts, challenges, and purpose

    4. A sense of pride in how culture and psychology come together in you

  • Each spirit name in the Know Your Spirit series has been carefully chosen to reflect not just a personality type, but a cultural strength, role, and responsibility that resonates deeply with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being, and doing.

We didn’t want to use generic Western labels like “The Leader” or “The Artist”. Instead, we chose names that carry spirit, Country, and purpose — names that honour the role you play in your community, family, and cultural life. These names reflect movement, responsibility, vision, connection, and energy — all essential to how we thrive as First Nations peoples.

These names were created by mob, for mob — with love, truth, and purpose.

The names used in the Know Your Spirit series are inspired by the strength and beauty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language systems. While they are designed to reflect cultural identity and spirit roles, they do not belong to one specific language group. Out of deep respect, we acknowledge that these names are symbolic rather than direct translations, and we welcome guidance from language custodians should this resource grow.
