Support renters, advocate for fairness and build stronger communities on the Sunshine Coast

Tenants Queensland

Mount Isa City, QLD

Part-Time | $38 per hour

Housing insecurity can affect every part of a person’s life. When someone is struggling with tenancy issues, the right advice at the right time can help reduce stress, restore confidence and create a path forward. That is what makes this opportunity with Tenants Queensland so important.

Tenants Queensland is currently recruiting a TQ QSTARS Advice Worker for its Sunshine Coast office in Maroochydore. This is a full-time role for someone who wants to do meaningful work supporting residential renters through advice, case work, advocacy and practical guidance. The organisation’s purpose is centred on helping renters understand their rights, navigate housing issues and access the support they need to resolve problems and improve their wellbeing.

This is not just a desk job. It is a role for someone who can listen well, think clearly under pressure and help people take the next step when they may be feeling overwhelmed. From the first intake conversation through to advice, referrals and support with legal pathways, this position plays an important role in helping Queensland renters navigate a system that can often feel confusing and stressful.

The successful candidate will work directly with clients by phone, face-to-face and through digital platforms. They will help renters understand tenancy law, work through forms and notices, prepare for dispute resolution or QCAT processes and, where needed, advocate on behalf of those with limited capacity to do so themselves.

Tenants Queensland is looking for someone with a real commitment to social justice and social development, along with strong communication skills, professionalism and the ability to work with people from a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Experience in community services or qualifications in social work, law or a similar field will be highly regarded.

The role offers a salary of $76,000 per annum, along with significant training and mentoring and access to salary packaging. For the right person, it is a chance to build a rewarding career while contributing to fairer housing outcomes for people across the region.

At Indigenous Job Match, we are proud to promote roles like this because they align with purpose, community impact and practical support. We know that many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples bring strong lived understanding, empathy, advocacy skills and deep community connection to roles like this. That is why we strongly encourage mob on the Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas to consider applying.

If you are looking for a role where your work has real meaning, where you can stand with people through difficult moments and help them move towards stability, this opportunity with Tenants Queensland is worth a serious look.
