ETC turns reconciliation commitments into practical employment action
Indigenous Job Match is proud to be advertising a new part-time Mentor opportunity with Enterprise and Training Company (ETC) in Logan Central.
ETC is a community-focused, not-for-profit organisation that has delivered employment and training services since 1989. The organisation supports people to build their skills, overcome barriers and move towards sustainable employment, education and personal goals (Enterprise and Training Company, n.d.-a).
Supporting parents and carers through Parent Pathways
The Mentor will work within ETC’s Parent Pathways program, a voluntary service providing personalised and flexible support to eligible parents and carers of children under six.
This is a practical, people-centred role. The successful applicant will work alongside parents and carers to understand their individual circumstances, strengths and aspirations. They will help participants develop tailored action plans, connect with childcare and community services, explore education and employment pathways, and build confidence in taking their next steps.
The Mentor may also provide employment preparation support, facilitate workshops and group sessions, and connect participants with services relating to housing, financial assistance and education.
ETC describes Parent Pathways as flexible, accessible and responsive to the individual needs of each parent or carer. The program recognises that every family’s circumstances are different and that meaningful support needs to be shaped around the person, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach (Enterprise and Training Company, n.d.-b).
Connecting reconciliation with recruitment
ETC’s completed Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan for August 2022 to August 2025 included commitments to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander recruitment, review recruitment processes for barriers and advertise vacancies through channels that effectively reach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders (Enterprise and Training Company, 2022).

ETC has confirmed that it completed its latest Stretch RAP and is now developing a new Stretch RAP for 2026 to 2029. This next plan is expected to continue guiding the organisation’s work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, organisations and communities (Enterprise and Training Company, n.d.-c).
A RAP alone does not create cultural safety. Genuine progress also requires accountable leadership, culturally capable managers, inclusive recruitment, the removal of systemic barriers and workplaces where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees feel respected, supported and able to succeed. Targeted recruitment is one practical part of that broader responsibility.
Could this be your next role?
ETC is looking for someone with experience in mentoring, coaching or support services, particularly with parents, carers or students. Applicants will need strong communication and relationship-building skills, a Certificate III or higher in a relevant field such as Community Services, a current Queensland Blue Card and a recent National Police Check.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates with the skills, experience and interest in supporting parents and carers are warmly encouraged to explore this opportunity.
