About the Role

The Bayside Community Justice Group Coordinator supports the delivery of culturally appropriate justice initiatives that place community at the centre. You’ll work closely with Elders, the Indigenous Justice Officer (IJO), Magistrates Courts, Police, and service providers to ensure our mob receive the right support at the right time.

This is a shared role, where teamwork, trust, and cultural understanding are key. You’ll be part of a small but powerful team making a difference every day.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Elders, justice stakeholders, and community members in culturally appropriate ways

  • Delivering justice and community engagement strategies with cultural integrity

  • Building strong relationships with Courts, Police, legal services, and NGOs

  • Providing referrals, early intervention, and culturally grounded support

  • Promoting the voice and leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in justice processes

What We’re Looking For

This is an Identified Position open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Strong cultural knowledge and respect for working alongside Elders and community leaders

  • Experience or qualifications in community engagement, social services, or justice-related fields

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills

  • A collaborative approach to teamwork

  • A valid Blue Card (or willingness to obtain one)

  • A current QLD C Class Driver’s Licence
